The Crafty Collaborators are back sharing more crafting ideas, this time using Watercolor Pencils! I have to confess, this is an item in my craft room I don't pull out and use very much, and I don't know why! Even for crafters like me that can barely do paint by number, you can achieve beautiful results with the Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen. Stampin' Up! offers 2 assortments to choose from, but why choose? You need them both in your life...trust me! And with the affordable price point, you don't have to choose! Just make sure you also order Blender Pens, because that is the secret to my project.
I chose an image from Nature's Harvest and stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
I then colored in my images with Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Garden Green, and Old Olive. I used Balmy Blue for the background. I went over the coloring with a Blender Pen to smooth the lines and spread the color around. Use a light hand and minimal strokes, or you can cause the paper to "pill." I then went over the image with my Wink of Stella to add some sparkle. I sponged the edges with Early Espresso to create a Vignette-look
I used several elements from the Harvest Meadow Suite....the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder on the Cajun Craze panel, a panel with the DSP, some copper die cuts, the Brushed Metallic Dots, and the Diamond Weave Ribbon. My sentiment came from the Quiet Meadow stamp set cropped with one of the dies from Tasteful Labels. Of course, you can't forget the inside of your card or the envelope....No Naked Envelopes...It's a rule!
Tip: To highlight embossed images from an embossing folder, lightly drag an ink pad (using the same color as the cardstock that was embossed) over the cardstock.
