Christmas In July Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop

Hey Y'all!
How many of you have started thinking about Christmas? I think about it all year long! It’s my favorite time of the year, so I love that this month’s Stampin’ Dreams theme is Christmas In July.
The Christmas Barn Bundle was at the top of my wish list of items from the new July-December Mini Catalog. I love the look of Black and White with a pop of color. I stamped the barn, tree, and sentiment in Memento ink, then stamped the wreath in Shaded Spruce and colored the bow with my Cherry Cobbler blends. The fence was die cut from Basic Black cardstock. I layered this panel onto a 4-1/8 x 5-3/8 panel of Cherry Cobbler, then adhered them to a Thick Basic White cardbase. I can’t wait to play more with set…so many fun images!
Some tips and tricks:
  • Use adhesive sheets to adhere thin pieces like the fence. Simply attach to your cardstock before die cutting.
  • Use our Foam Adhesive Sheets to pop up images like the wreath.
  • When coloring images with Stampin’ Blends that were stamped with ink other than Memento, use a “dotting” motion instead of a back and forth coloring motion to keep ink from smearing.
Now hop along with everyone else and see how they are celebrating Christmas In July!

Watercolor Blog Hop

Hey Y'all!
It's time for another Technique Tuesday, and today the Crafty Collaborators are showing you projects using watercolor.

I created this card using the Hand Penned Petals stamp set, and the "emboss resist" technique. I heat embossed the floral image with white embossing powder onto Shimmery White cardstock, then used water painters to add ink. Here are the steps:
  • Heat emboss the image
  • Add a water wash over the entire piece
  • Use the small water painter to "dab" ink onto the image
  • Increase the amount of water for lighter coverage, less water to make the color darker
Now hop through to see everyone else's creations!
