Sea of Textures for Global Design Project #150

Hey Y'all!
It's another challenge from the Global Design Project!  I have a fun card today made with the Sea of Textures Bundle.  The challenge was a sketch challenge:
Here is what I came up with:
Here it is from another view:
And then the inside:
I used the colors featured in the DSP-Fresh Fig and Tranquil Tide.  I stamped directly onto the DSP for my background, getting the different color variation by 2nd and 3rd generation stamping.  I stamped my greetings onto the Wood Textures DSP.  Don't you love the "Thanks" font? Then I cut them out with framelits from the Stitched Labels Framelit Dies to make those fun signs that cute octopus is holding...he has grown on me!  In fact, this whole stamp set has become one of my favorites!  I think I am going to name the octopus, let me know in the comments below what you think a good name for him would be!

Card Measurements:
Card Base: 8-1/2 x 5-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
DSP Layer: 4 x 5-1/4
Fresh Fig strip: 3-1/2 x 5/8
DSP strip: 3-1/4 x 1/2
Whisper White for octopus
Scraps of Wood Textures DSP for signs

Tips & Tricks:
  • Stamp directly onto DSP for a fun look
  • The "Thanks" came from the stamp that says "Thanks for reaching out."  Use a sticky note to mask and only ink the word (s) you want in your greeting.
  • Remember to remove the sticky note before stamping onto your project!
  • Get more than one color from a single ink pad.  It's called "Stamping Off" or "Generation Stamping".  The first time you stamp after inking is the "first" generation, then stamp again without inking, that's the 2nd generation, stamp again, "third" generation, etc.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my card, hope you were inspired to get in your craft room and get some inking done!  If you are interested in purchasing any of the products, you can click on the images below to go to my online store.  Please use the current host code, 4N6SP7RG, when purchasing, unless your order is $150 or more, then you can claim the host rewards and get free products!
Have a wonderful day!

Nina

Sea of Textures Shaker Card-CASEing the Catty #187

Hey Y'all!
I have started participating in some of the card making challenges "floating" (is that a pun?) around the internet.  The CASEing the Catty challenge this week was the Kids and Babies section pages 81-91.  I chose to CASE (Copy And Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit) the shaker card on page 82.
Here is the original from the catalog:
And here is my version:
I have not made a shaker card in forever!  The secret to shaker cards are the Foam Adhesive Strips, they make it so easy!  I used elements from the die set to make my shaker material.  Oh, and the other secret...when you put your shaker elements in a container, make sure you don't bump it with your elbow and knock it on the floor...yeah, that happened.  It's all good though, I recovered most of those teeny tiny, did I mention VERY teeny tiny, fish.
My sentiments came from the Waterfront stamp set, which I absolutely love!  I heat embossed the sentiment on the front of the card, then stamped the one on the inside in Blueberry Bushel.  Don't forget to stamp the inside of your card....
...and the envelope.....
Tips and Tricks:
  • layer DSP to a piece of whisper white to make it more sturdy
  • attach window sheet with glue dots
  • use fine tip glue pen and silicon craft sheet for small embellishments
  • cut burlap ribbon for individual strands
  • attach ribbon to back of embellishment with dimensionals
  • the die brush was a lifesaver!
Measurements:
  • Card Base: 8-1/2 x 5-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
  • DSP layer: 4-1/8 x 5-3/8, the whisper white layer is the same measurement
  • Pool Party (background of shaker): 3-1/2 x 3-1/2
  • Window sheet: 3 x 3
  • Scraps of Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay, Old Olive, Blueberry Bushel, & Whisper White
I had so much fun making this card!  It is going to a very special friend.  Thanks for stopping by!  If you are interested in ordering any of the products, click on the images below and it will take you to my online store.  Please use the current host code (U2UFT2A9) if ordering less than $150.  If ordering $150 or more, skip the host code and claim the host rewards for yourself.  If you are ordering $99 or more, why not sign up as a demonstrator?  You will receive your choice of a family of ink pads in addition to your starter kit.  You can't beat this deal!
