Easy Peasy Gift Card Holder

Hey Y'all!
Today I wanted to share this easy gift card holder. I needed a card for a baby shower for a boy.

I chose the Hats Off bundle to create my card. I love the sentiment "Here's To the Next Adventure" because if you have had kids, you know what I'm talking about! Every day is an adventure! And well worth it, I might add. The cardbase is Misty Moonlight, and it is what some call a "Hot Dog" fold or "top folding" card. The cardstock is cut in 1/2  at 4-1/4  and scored at 5-1/2. (scroll down to see all of the measurements.) The Pool Party panel was die cut with one of the rectangles from the Scalloped Contour Dies.

Look at the stitching detail on the hat! I first stamped it in Misty Moonlight onto Basic White, then die cut it. I also die cut the patch on the front in Misty Moonlight and the fish in Basic White. I used some of the recently retired Sunshine & Rainbows DSP from Saleabration. I hope you were able to get some, I love that paper! (PS if you didn't get any, I have a class coming up using it with the coordinating Rainbows of Happiness Bundle.)

Here is the inside of the card, and you can see on the left side the pocket for the gift card holder. This is created by folding on the 2-3/4 score line and placing adhesive on the top and bottom edge. Before I glued it down, I used a 1-1/2" circle punch to create the thumb notch. I die cut the smaller hat in Misty Moonlight, and also stamped the inside greeting in Misty Moonlight. This one comes from All For Baby.

Card Measurements:
  • Cardbase: Misty Moonlight 4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-1/2 and 2-3/4
  • Basic White: Front Panel  2-5/8 x 3-7/8, Inside Panel 4 x 5-1/4
  • DSP: Both panels 2-1/2 x 4

Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop-Graduation

Hey Y’all!
Today on the Stampin Dreams Blog Hop, we are celebrating graduates!

The project I am sharing is a Gift Card Holder, and it is so easy to make! This can be adapted for all kinds of occasions, so you will want to file these measurements away for future reference.

I stole, ahem, I mean CASE’d the idea of using the Ice Cream punch to make pennants from my friend and fellow demonstrator Alicia Yap. (By the way, there are so many alternative uses for that punch, I am planning an event showcasing that set, be sure to subscribe to my blog, I will be sending out the information soon.) I used the Brick Embossing Folder to creat a simple background, and heat embossed “Congratulations” from the new stamp set Inspired Thoughts.

I pulled out another punch-the Tailored Tag Punch-to create my mortarboard. I made a very simple tassel using Baker’s Twine and added a Pastel Pearl. I  included one of my favorite Scriptures for graduates, Proverbs 3:5-6, I just printed it out and put it inside the card.

Thanks for stopping by, hop through to see everyone else’s projects! Scroll down to see measurements and supplies.

Measurements and Instructions:
  • Basic Black Cardbase 4-1/4 x 11, score @5-1/2 & 9, Gorgeous Grape layer (that’s one of the school colors where I live) 4-1/8 x 5-3/8, (2) Basic White  4 x 5-1/4, Basic Black for the Pennants, Basic White 1/2 x 3 (approximately) for the sentiment (the pieces left over when you cut 4x5-1/4 layers are perfect for this)
  • Using one of the Layering Circle Dies (or circle punch if you have one) create a thumb notch on the edge that creates the card holder.
  • Fold and burnish score lines, place tear and tape along the edges of the piece that folds in for the card holder and adhere.
  • Emboss one of the Basic White pieces with the Brick Embossing folder.
  • Punch 4 of the triangle from the Ice Cream Punch for the pennants
  • Using the Playful Alphabet dies, cut out the 2021. ***Tip: use a rectangle die to cut out part of the Gorgeous Grape layer that won’t show, use this piece for the numbers and the mortarboard. Place a  foam adhesive sheet on the Gorgeous Grape before you die cut the numbers.
  • Stamp sentiment in Versamark then heat emboss in gold. Banner the edges if desired ***Tip: use the top of the Tailored Tag punch to banner edges
  • Adhere Gorgeous Grape layer to card base, make sure you only place adhesive on the side that adheres to the fold.
  • Adhere embossed Basic White layer on top of GG
  • Arrange pennants on card front, place twine along top edge and adhere with glue dots (you can tie a knot in each end of the twine and fray the ends if desired) then adhere pennants along the twine.
  • Adhere numbers to the pennants
  • To create the Mortarboard: punch a Piece of Gorgeous Grape with the Tailored Tag punch. Using a sticky note, line up the punches piece in the punch again to create the diamond shape and punch
  • Arrange placement on Basic White inside layer, and stamp sentiment
  • Adhere mortarboard
  • To make the tassel: Fold a 2-2-1/2 inch piece of bakers twine in 1/2 and tie a knot, then fray the ends
  • Adhere to mortarboard with a glue dot
  • Place a Pastel Pearl in the center of the loop
