In Stitches!-Global Design Project #148

Hey Y'all!
It's time for another challenge from Global Design Project.  I am posting at the last minute, it's been a crazy week.  My MIL had a massive heart attack Sunday night, so we have been dealing with that.  Then one of my best friends turned 50 this week, and we had a surprise birthday party for her Friday night.  And with some other stuff going on in life, I have been meeting myself coming and going!
But on to the challenge, here it is:
What a beautiful card!  No wonder Connie Collins is a member of the Artisan Design Team.  What I loved about this card was the stitching, but I don't sew and don't have a sewing machine!  No worries, Stampin' Up! has me covered!
There are so many framelits that add the "stitched" look to projects.  I am in love with the new limited bundle Blended Seasons (only available in August, item number 149894), the framelits are beautiful and add the stitched edge.  There are 3 that layer together; I used 2 of them on this card. The Stitched All Around bundle (148374) is another favorite of mine.  I used the edgelits in this set to create the stitching around the edge of the card, then highlighted it with my chalk marker.
I also love how she customized the doily, I also sponged mine with Old Olive.  I kept the colors she used as well.  I accented the die cut flower and leaves with my Stampin' Write Markers to add some dimension.  I also added some sparkle with the Wink of Stella.
The floral image from the Very Vintage host set added so much; I stamped it on the Crumb Cake layer on the outside, then carried it over to the inside of my card.  I also brought the stitching element to the inside layer as well.
Tips & Tricks:
  • Card Dimensions-card base 8-1/2 x 11, scored at 5-1/2, CC layer & WW inside layer 4 x 5-1/4,
  • When using longer dies in the Big Shot, place the paper and die in a vertical position so that the die passes through the long way.  The Big Shot uses pressure, and if you pass it through horizontally, it may not cut as well.
  • Use 2 different colors for die cuts, and attach one on top of the other for added interest (like the die cut flower and vine on this card)
  • Fussy cut elements from Designer Series Paper
  • Use sticky notes to mask words on stamps to have greeting in 2 different colors
  • Use grid paper to line up sentiments on your blocks to get them straight.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my project!  I am having a special class specifically for the Blended Seasons bundle.  If you order the bundle (or just the stamp set) from me, you can attend the class for free. If you do not live locally, I will mail you the kit to make the projects.  The class will be August 25 from 1-3.  If you would like to come, but not order the bundle, the fee is $20.  Contact me by email if you are interested, ninamac32@hotmail.com.

Sea of Textures Shaker Card-CASEing the Catty #187

Hey Y'all!
I have started participating in some of the card making challenges "floating" (is that a pun?) around the internet.  The CASEing the Catty challenge this week was the Kids and Babies section pages 81-91.  I chose to CASE (Copy And Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit) the shaker card on page 82.
Here is the original from the catalog:
And here is my version:
I have not made a shaker card in forever!  The secret to shaker cards are the Foam Adhesive Strips, they make it so easy!  I used elements from the die set to make my shaker material.  Oh, and the other secret...when you put your shaker elements in a container, make sure you don't bump it with your elbow and knock it on the floor...yeah, that happened.  It's all good though, I recovered most of those teeny tiny, did I mention VERY teeny tiny, fish.
My sentiments came from the Waterfront stamp set, which I absolutely love!  I heat embossed the sentiment on the front of the card, then stamped the one on the inside in Blueberry Bushel.  Don't forget to stamp the inside of your card....
...and the envelope.....
Tips and Tricks:
  • layer DSP to a piece of whisper white to make it more sturdy
  • attach window sheet with glue dots
  • use fine tip glue pen and silicon craft sheet for small embellishments
  • cut burlap ribbon for individual strands
  • attach ribbon to back of embellishment with dimensionals
  • the die brush was a lifesaver!
Measurements:
  • Card Base: 8-1/2 x 5-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
  • DSP layer: 4-1/8 x 5-3/8, the whisper white layer is the same measurement
  • Pool Party (background of shaker): 3-1/2 x 3-1/2
  • Window sheet: 3 x 3
  • Scraps of Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay, Old Olive, Blueberry Bushel, & Whisper White
I had so much fun making this card!  It is going to a very special friend.  Thanks for stopping by!  If you are interested in ordering any of the products, click on the images below and it will take you to my online store.  Please use the current host code (U2UFT2A9) if ordering less than $150.  If ordering $150 or more, skip the host code and claim the host rewards for yourself.  If you are ordering $99 or more, why not sign up as a demonstrator?  You will receive your choice of a family of ink pads in addition to your starter kit.  You can't beat this deal!
