Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop-Anything But A Card!

Hey Y'all!
It's time for another Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop! This month, our theme is "Anything But A Card." Cards are fun to make and give, but give me something with chocolate in it, and I am your friend for life.  Bonus if it has coffee, too...but I digress.

St. Patrick's Day is coming up, so I decided to embellish one of  the Love You Always Treat Boxes.  I used the hearts from the Lots of Heart bundle to make shamrocks.  I was going through my stamps looking for an appropriate saying, because I didn't think I had anything current that would work for St. Patrick's Day, when I realized the Oval Occasions bundle has a tiny shamrock and the "So lucky to know you" sentiment. Winning! I need to pay more attention to what stamps I have!

But, if you don't have a set with a shamrock, 3 hearts make a great one!  I just cut the stem freehand.  Since I started with the DSP that had polka-dots, I had to keep the theme going! I used the polka-dot heart stamp for the shamrock and the polka-dot tulle ribbon.

I first altered the box itself by spritzing it with Just Jade re-inker mixed with 70% alcohol.  ***Note: the boxes have a waxy coating that doesn't allow the ink to absorb right away, and it tends to run.  But the alcohol allows it to dry fairly quickly. I also stamped it with the tiny shamrock from Oval Occasions, and made the larger shamrock with the small heart stamp from Lots of Heart.  I used the Just Jade Stampin' Write Marker to draw in the stem.

I also altered the DSP with a Blending Brush, and stamped the belly band with the tiny shamrock.

Back to the chocolate...what else would you put in a St. Patrick's Day gift but nuggets of gold...Hershey's nuggets that is! I wrapped a few with the altered DSP.

Measurements:
  • Belly Band-10 x 2-1/2
  • Nugget Wraps- 1 x 3
Now it's time to see what everyone else made!

Color Challenge GDP #277

 Hey Y’all!

It is Friday, my day off, and I am getting to play in my craft room. There will be 2 blog posts today, because, well, just because.  I have a post for a scheduled blog hop, and then I have this one...The Global Design Project Color Challenge.
It is always so much fun to play along with these challenges, and if you would like to participate as well, just click on the link and it will take you to the website that will tell you all the details.

****and I was picked as a winner for this challenge!

I've had this card in my mind all week since I saw what the color challenge was, and I am so happy with how it came together.  I made a frame from Blushing Bride CS using the Stitched So Sweetly and Stitched Rectangle dies, and placed it over the Basic White layer that I had embossed with the Scripty 3D embossing folder.

The hearts and greeting came from one of my favorite new sets in the 2021 January-June Mini Catalog, Lots of Heart Bundle.  The gingham/buffalo check heart stamp is my favorite!! I heat embossed it in white onto a piece of Rococo Rose cardstock, but I used the smaller heart die to crop it.  I die cut another Rococo Rose heart, and used the dotted heart die to add detail.  I stamped the sentiment in Rococo Rose onto a piece of Sahara Sand, and cropped it with one of the Stitched Rectangle dies. I added a small die cut heart as well.  The Rococo Rose Scalloped Linen Ribbon was a perfect acccent!
I can see me using this layout quite a bit in future projects, with different stamps and colors.  In fact, I have one in mind right now, so be sure you are subscribed so you won't miss it!
All of the supplies I used are listed below, if you would like to order just click on any image to go to my online store.
Thanks for stopping by today. Give a smile, make someone a handmade card!
Love,
Nina
