I have started participating in some of the card making challenges "floating" (is that a pun?) around the internet. The CASEing the Catty challenge this week was the Kids and Babies section pages 81-91. I chose to CASE (Copy And Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit) the shaker card on page 82.
Here is the original from the catalog:
And here is my version:
I have not made a shaker card in forever! The secret to shaker cards are the Foam Adhesive Strips, they make it so easy! I used elements from the die set to make my shaker material. Oh, and the other secret...when you put your shaker elements in a container, make sure you don't bump it with your elbow and knock it on the floor...yeah, that happened. It's all good though, I recovered most of those teeny tiny, did I mention VERY teeny tiny, fish.
My sentiments came from the Waterfront stamp set, which I absolutely love! I heat embossed the sentiment on the front of the card, then stamped the one on the inside in Blueberry Bushel. Don't forget to stamp the inside of your card....
...and the envelope.....
Tips and Tricks:
- layer DSP to a piece of whisper white to make it more sturdy
- attach window sheet with glue dots
- use fine tip glue pen and silicon craft sheet for small embellishments
- cut burlap ribbon for individual strands
- attach ribbon to back of embellishment with dimensionals
- the die brush was a lifesaver!
- Card Base: 8-1/2 x 5-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
- DSP layer: 4-1/8 x 5-3/8, the whisper white layer is the same measurement
- Pool Party (background of shaker): 3-1/2 x 3-1/2
- Window sheet: 3 x 3
- Scraps of Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay, Old Olive, Blueberry Bushel, & Whisper White
