Technique Tuesday-Scoring Techniques

Hey Y'all!
Today, I am joining my Crafty Collaborations friends, a group of crafters from all over the globe, for Technique Tuesday! We are sharing Scoring Techniques, so I know you are going to see some fun projects with lots of inspiration to take to your craft room. So grab a cup of coffee, or tea, or whatever you like, and hop along with us!

For my project, I chose the beautiful Sale-a-bration stamp set, Delicate Dahlias. I made this sympathy card for a very special family, and even though sympathy cards aren't pleasant to make and send, I love that I can convey my love and prayers for them with a personal touch.

The technique I wanted to show you is what I call the  "Shiplap" technique because it looks like shiplap on a wall.  If you've watched Chip and Joanna Gaines on HGTV, you know all about shiplap! This adds texture to your card without needing embossing folders and a die-cutting machine.

I achieved this look by first stamping the flowers and leaves in Basic Gray onto a piece of 4 x 5-1/4 Basic White cardstock. Next, I used the filler images (this is called "two-step stamping") to add color...Bumblebee for the flowers and Evening Evergreen for the leaves.  My next step was to place the Basic White panel onto my Simply Scored scoring tool in portrait orientation and score every 1/2 inch. So easy!
I stamped and fussy cut the Dahlia (Basic Gray and Misty Moonlight were the ink colors) , popped it up with dimentsionals, added my sentiment, and finished off my card with some Linen Thread loops behind the large Dahlia.
***Tip***
There is a large end and small end of the Stylus that come with the Simply Scored. The large end is to be used for thinner paper like DSP, and the smaller end is for thicker paper like cardstock.  Using the correct end will keep you from applying too much pressure and tearing your paper.
Now that you've seen my technique, hop through to see what everyone else has created!

Measurements:
  • Card base-Thick Basic White 8-1/2 x5-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
  • Misty Moonlight Panel-4-1/8 x 5-3/8 (save paper by die cutting the label from the middle before adhering to the card)
  • Basic White-4 x 5-1/4
