Color Inspiration: Let's Get Hopping Round 41

Hey Y'all!
It's time for another fun blog hop from the Let's Get Hopping crew. You may be arriving from Megan's page, or you may be starting with me, either way, Welcome! We are so glad you are joining us! Our theme this month is "Colour Inspiration: What inspires you?" I have always have a love for nautical things, especially anchors. There is a passage in the Bible that you have probably seen on home decor items-Hebrews 6:19, "This hope we have as an anchor of the soul..." It has brought comfort to me many times, especially this past year.

A few months before COVID, I took a chalk painting class, and we painted this cabinet door. It was fun, but I had no idea what I would do with it.  It sat on the floor of my craft room for a long time. Then COVID happened, and I found myself home from work for 7 weeks with lots of time on my hands. I created this wall hanging, and it inspired me to redecorate one of our bathrooms around this piece. So it is the inspiration for my card today.

I used the Sailing Home stamp set and coordinating dies for the elements for my card. I used sponges and several different inks to create the weathered look. To mimic the raised panel on my inspiration piece, I used the Impression Mats for the Stampin' Cut and Emboss to leave the die impression instead of cutting.

I love the look of copper, and I was so disappointed when our Copper embossing powder was discontinued, but guess what? It is coming back in the new Annual Catalog! I am a happy girl! I used it for my sentiment and added accents to the edges of the Pool Party Panel and the anchorl.

I sponged Pool Party and Soft Suede Ink around the edge of the inside panel.  I inked up the anchor in Pool Party and then used a sponge dauber to add Soft Suede to the edges to achieve the two-tone look here.

Card Measurements and Instructions:
  • Sahara Sand Card Base 8-1/2 x 5-1/2, scored at 4-1/4, Pool Party 4 x 5-1/4, Basic White (inside panel) 4 x 5-1/4
  • Sponge Basic Gray, Soft Suede, and Craft White ink onto Pool Party Layer. Dry with heat tool.
  • Drag edges of the Pool Party panel lightly through a Versamark Pad, then add Copper Embossing Powder and melt with heat tool. (The Copper Embossing Powder will be available when the new catalog goes live May 4)
  • Run the panel through the Stampin' Cut and Emboss machine with a Tasteful Label Die using the Impression Mats instead of a cutting plate. (I could not add it to the product list, but the item # is 149660)
  • To create the weathered anchor look, drag a Pool Party ink pad across a piece of Basic White. Then drag a Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad, then Craft White. Dry with heat tool in between ink applications.
  • Die cut the anchor, then drag the edges through the Versamark Ink Pad, add Copper Embossing Powder, and melt with heat tool.
  • Die cut 2 pieces of  "seaweed" from a piece of vellum, the wheel from Soft Suede, the rope from Sahara Sand, and the sentiment piece from Basic White.
  • Sponge the rope with Soft Suede ink.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Versamark, add Copper Embossing Powder and melt with heat tool. Sponge the edges with Soft Suede.
  • Adhere the Pool Party Panel to the card base, then add the other elements. I popped up the sentiment and anchor with dimensionals.
  • For the inside panel, ink up the anchor stamp with pool party, then add Soft Suede ink with a sponge dauber to the edges. Sponge the edges of the panel with Pool Party, then add Soft Suede to the corners. Adhere to the inside of the card.
  • Send card to someone who needs some encouragement!
