We are trying to get back to normal in my neck of the woods after Hurricane Michael decided to visit. Our little town of Bainbridge, GA looks like a war zone! But we did not get hit nearly as bad as others. I'm sure you have seen pictures on the news, and the destruction is indescribable! We are so thankful for God's blessings during this time. Please pray for those who have lost so much, and those who are working on the recovery effort; it is going to be a long process.
So that's one reason I am excited to share this card with you! I haven't been able to do much stamping through all of this, and boy, have I missed it! Y'all know I love the challenges over at Global Design Project . And this week it is a color challenge.
Don't those colors just say "Fall?" I knew they would be perfect paired with the Country Home set. I also pulled out my Buffalo Plaid background stamp (that I am in LOVE with by the way!).
I stamped the Buffalo Check in Old Olive, then I "jazzed it up" and made a plaid pattern with my Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry Stampin' Write markers. Simply use a ruler to draw lines with the fine tip.
I added a lot of copper elements to this project as well. I embossed the Copper Foil piece with the Tin Tile Dynamic TIEF. I also used the Bright Copper shimmer paint to add flecks of copper to the background and also used it on the berries in the stamped image. To add the flecks, pour a drop of shimmer paint onto an acrylic block, squeeze a small amount of water from your Aqua Painter and mix it, pick up some of the paint with your brush tip then tap it against the cap, or anything firm. Make sure you have everything out of the way that you don't want copper flecks on, it can get messy! I used the stylus from the Pick Me Up tool to pick up some of the paint and add to the berries. And can you see the copper edge on the Old Olive layer? That was achieved with a sponge dauber dipped in the shimmer paint.
I stamped the can in Versamark and embossed with Copper embossing powder. I stamped the floral image in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink since I was going to color with Stampin' Blends. The variation in the leaf color was achieved by blending different colors of the Stampin' Blends. You don't have to just blend light and dark of the same color, I used Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie, light and dark, with just a touch of Mango Melody. And you know I have to add some shimmer with my Wink of Stella!
I layered a circle die cut from that stunning Country Lane DSP that is part of this suite, then "fussy cut" and popped up my stamped image. A bow from the Braided Linen Trim attached to one of the Galvanized Clips was a perfect accent to finish off the card.
