Share It Sunday Blog Hop

Hey Y'all!
There has been so much going on with my family, so I have had somewhat of an unintentional sabbatical from blogging It’s good to be back with the Crafty Collaborators doing a Share It Sunday Blog Hop.
August’s Paper Pumpkin, Sweet Sunflowers, was perfect to quickly make some Thank you notes I needed to send. I decided to stretch the kit to get more cards, and I wanted to share the alternate projects I created.

These first two projects use the gorgeous envelopes included in the kit as background elements.  I even used Blending Brushes and the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch to imitate the labels provided in the kit!

The envelopes were so pretty!

The background in this project was created by using one of the gold foil pieces as a stencil, then I cut out a piece for an embellishment.

And that gold foil piece that I cut a piece out of? I added it to this Blackberry Bliss cardbase and covered up the hole with sunflowers.
I confess, I am guilty of putting my Paper Pumpkins on a shelf and never making the projects. If you are a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, I hope I’ve encouraged you to break it out and get those creative juices flowing!
Thanks for stopping by today! Now hop around to see what everyone else is sharing!

Christmas In July Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop

Hey Y'all!
How many of you have started thinking about Christmas? I think about it all year long! It’s my favorite time of the year, so I love that this month’s Stampin’ Dreams theme is Christmas In July.
The Christmas Barn Bundle was at the top of my wish list of items from the new July-December Mini Catalog. I love the look of Black and White with a pop of color. I stamped the barn, tree, and sentiment in Memento ink, then stamped the wreath in Shaded Spruce and colored the bow with my Cherry Cobbler blends. The fence was die cut from Basic Black cardstock. I layered this panel onto a 4-1/8 x 5-3/8 panel of Cherry Cobbler, then adhered them to a Thick Basic White cardbase. I can’t wait to play more with set…so many fun images!
Some tips and tricks:
  • Use adhesive sheets to adhere thin pieces like the fence. Simply attach to your cardstock before die cutting.
  • Use our Foam Adhesive Sheets to pop up images like the wreath.
  • When coloring images with Stampin’ Blends that were stamped with ink other than Memento, use a “dotting” motion instead of a back and forth coloring motion to keep ink from smearing.
Now hop along with everyone else and see how they are celebrating Christmas In July!

Watercolor Blog Hop

Hey Y'all!
It's time for another Technique Tuesday, and today the Crafty Collaborators are showing you projects using watercolor.

I created this card using the Hand Penned Petals stamp set, and the "emboss resist" technique. I heat embossed the floral image with white embossing powder onto Shimmery White cardstock, then used water painters to add ink. Here are the steps:
  • Heat emboss the image
  • Add a water wash over the entire piece
  • Use the small water painter to "dab" ink onto the image
  • Increase the amount of water for lighter coverage, less water to make the color darker
Now hop through to see everyone else's creations!

July-December Mini Coming Soon!

Hey Y'all!
I have been a busy girl! I think I broke a personal record this week...June is a busy month for me. In addition to my regular everyday schedule, I go to Youth Camp with our church for a week, and we always leave Father's Day afternoon. And today is the Stampin Up! demonstrator event, Creativity Now. My team and I are getting together for a day of crafting fun....the event doesn't start until 6:00 this evening, but we are having a Salad lunch and then several of us have created a "Shoebox Swap," a project you design and prep, and all the supplies fit in a "shoebox." There will be 7 of us, so I had to create my project and prep for 7 people to make it today. I also signed up for 2 card swaps in a Demonstrator group. One was using new product from the July-December Mini, and one using products from the Saleabration catalog, both will be available to customers July 1st. For each swap, I had to make 13 cards. And they had to be mailed yesterday because of me leaving for Youth Camp. Then Thursday was one of my monthly card events, Rose City Stampers, where we make 3 projects. So this week I have made 26 cards for the Demonstrator Swap, designed and prepped 3 projects for a class, designed and prepped 7 projects for our Shoebox Swap, plus the prep for the Creativity Now event....whew! PS, my house is telling the tale...it looks like a tornado has come through. But you know what, I wouldn't trade my life for anything.

I wanted to share the 2 cards I created for the Demonstrator Swaps. This is the card from the J-D Mini. It uses a bundle called Celebrate With Tags. If you like to create your own gift tags, you will want this!

This is the card I made featuring the Saleabration item "Tree Lot Dies." It coordinates with the "Trees For Sale" stamp in the Mini.

To add texture and dimension to the trees, I did a watercolor wash in Shaded Spruce onto a piece of Shimmery White carstock, then die cut the trees from that. I used the detail stamp to stamp the branches, and I love how they turned out!
Well, that's all for today, I will be sharing our Creativity Now projects and Shoebox Swaps in future posts, so stay tuned. Now I've got to go make a Pound Cake for camp and Chicken Salad for our event...I think I'm gonna sleep good tonight!

Ombré Technique for the Stampin Dreams Blog Hop

Hey Y'all!
Today on the Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop, the theme is Ombre. It is a pretty popular look that has been around for a while. "Ombre" just means the color fades from dark to light. For my project, I chose the Let's Set Sail Bundle and used a Blending Brush to create the background.

I started at the bottom of my Basic White piece and inked it pretty heavily in Tahitain Tide. Then without re-inking my brush, I moved up the piece and allowed the ink to fade and get lighter and lighter. This effect can also be achieved with more than one ink color...start with a dark color and then use lighter inks. I used Smoky Slate and Pale Papaya for my sailboat, and stamped my sentiment onto a cloud created with the Cloud Punch. You can see I added ink to the edges of the cloud by lightly dragging my brush around the edges. I stamped the bird image in Smoky slate and the water image in Tahitian Tide to give more texture. I made my cardbase a little fancier by starting with a top-folding cardbase (4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-1/2) and cutting off one edge at  2-3/4. So simple but it adds so much! I tied some Tahitain Tide Baker's twine around my scene panel and added it to a piece of Basic White  I die cut with the Scalloped Contour dies. I added a 4 x 5-1/4 piece of Basic White to the inside of the card, and Voila! l
Now let's see everyone else's creations!
