Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop-Christmas In July

Hey Y'all!
I am joining several demonstrators from across the globe today for this month's Stampin Dreams blog hop. We are sharing Christmas projects with you! If you are like me, it is never too early to start celebrating Christmas!
I challenged myself to use products that were not specifically for Christmas, and also products that make great staples in your craft room.

The Scalloped Contours Dies are one of those must haves! They are part of the Color & Contour Bundle. I used one of the scalloped rectangles for my focal image, and I love the die that creates the scalloped edge! Real Red is my go to color for Christmas, and I love how it looks with the new In-Color, Evening Evergreen.

Any guesses where the Christmas tree came from?  I used the Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch to punch the triangle from a scrap of In Color Shimmer vellum, and added a scrap of Cinnamon Cider cardstock for the trunk. The Red Rhinestones are perfect for tree decorations, reindeer noses, holly berries....so many things they can be used for. And you get so many in a package...a great bargain....and this girl is always looking for a good deal!

My sentiment came from the Inspired Thoughts stamp set. It has sentiments for several occasions, including Christmas, as you can see!
Now check out all of the other amazing projects, I promise you will have lots of ideas for Christmas. You may even start humming some Christmas Carols!

Watercolor Wash with Inspired Thoughts Bundle

Hey Y'all!
I wanted to share this project I made for my In Color Club members. It features Soft Succulent, and uses the Shimmer Vellum for the tree leaves.

I created a watercolor wash background using Balmy Blue, Polished Pink, Daffodil Delight, and Soft Succulent Ink refills.  I die cut the tree image from Cinnamon Cider, and then die cut the leaf images from the Soft Succulent Shimmer Vellum.

My cardbase is Basic White. I attached the watercolor piece to a layer of Soft Succulent CS embossed with the Bark embossing folder.  I stamped the sentiment in Soft Succulent onto a 1/2 strip of Basic White, and used the Lovely Label Pick a Punch to crop the ends of this piece and a 3/4 strip of Soft Succulent, then layered them together.  I added some Soft Succulent ribbon and jewels for embellishment. I love how the wash adds a pop of color!
Tips & Tricks:
  • Place a drop of re-inker onto an acrylic block and use that as your palette
  • Brush watercolor paper with plain water before adding ink to make it spread more fluidly
  • When punching small pieces in the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch, use a sticky note to hold the strip in place. Also, look underneath the punch to make sure it is centered.

Ink Technique Blog Hop With Crafty Collaborations

Hey Y'all!
It is good to be back! I shared in a previous post why I have been AWOL, my mother passed away June 25th, and we celebrated her Homegoing June 29th. We decided to get away and go camping this past weekend for the 4th. I have been out of my craft room for almost a month, and what better way to get back in the groove than with my wonderful friends from Crafty Collaborations with another fun Technique Tuesday Blog Hop.
This hop showcases Ink Techniques, and the one I am sharing today is a blending technique using the Blending Brushes.

To create this look, start with a 4 x 5-1/4 piece of Basic White and blend the ink colors beginning with the lightest color. I started with Soft Seafoam and blended it over the entire piece, then added Pear Pizzazz.

The next step is to stamp the images in Versamark ink and heat emboss with Clear Embossing Powder. Make sure the ink is dry, I went over it with my heat tool before I started stamping. I used the greenery images from the Lovely You stamp set. After you have heat set the images, blend over the entire piece with a darker color. I used Just Jade. This technique is similar to the Joseph's Coat technique.

To finish off my card, I stamped the sentiment in Versamark onto a 1 x 5-1/2 piece of Vellum, and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder. I wrapped the vellum around the cardstock and adhered it to the back. I added a 4-1/8 x 5-3/8 layer of Soft Seafoam, and attached these layers to a Basic White cardbase.

Tips:
  • When ink blending, start off of the edge of the cardstock and work your way toward the middle to avoid the heavy brush strokes showing. Blend in a circular pattern.
  • Use a dry microfiber cloth to clean your blending brushes. I found 2 for $.98 in the cleaning product section at Walmart.
  • Since we no longer sell the Embossing Buddy, the powdered pouch that helps keep stray embossing powder from getting all over your project, you can make your own. Grab a knee-high panty hose, sprinkle baby powder into it and tie a knot in the top.
I know you are going to love all of the techniques shared today, see everyone else's creations!
