Sketchy Sailboats with Global Design Project #146

Hey Y'all!
I am back from our July 4th vacation!  We spent it at the beach, and I guess those few days there got me in a nautical mood.  The beach is not my favorite place (Gasp!, I know, right?) In fact I think I am the only girl in the South that isn't dying to get my toes in the sand.  But we went with family and friends, and I did enjoy it.  They teased me about turning into a Beach Bum, but it ain't happening.  Although, coffee in the morning on the beach was pretty nice, and I came back with a nice tan.  And it might have inspired this card....
This is the second week in a row (yay me!) I have been able to participate in the Global Design Project.  This week's challenge was a sketch:
I used the sailboats and water die from the Lilypad Lake bundle.  My "Hello" greeting came from the Jar of Love set, and I used the 1-3/8" Circle Punch and Layering Circle Framelit Dies to layer it up.

I popped up the sailboats and greeting with dimensionals.  The Ruffled embossing folder reminds me of waves; it and the Night of Navy bakers twine added to the nautical theme.
This would make a great masculine card, and it is also great for a beach/ocean lover, which is NOT me, OK?  I know some of y'all just can't understand how I could not LOVE the beach.  I may not love it like my friends do, but I may or may not be looking forward to my next beach trip.  Y'all just don't tell them because I will never hear the end of it!

Love,
Not a Beach Bum yet,
Nina

Gratitude-Let's Get Hopping Round 11

Hey Y'all!
It's always great to be a part of the Let's Get Hopping crew.  If you have been hopping along, you arrived from Verity Biddlecombe's blog. I always love her projects!  This month we are focusing on gratitude.  There are so many people in my life I am grateful for.  And my love of card-making and papercrafting not only blesses me, but I am able to use it to bless others.
Another demonstrator and myself have started a group at our church called "Coffee and Cards."  We meet once a month to make cards for people in our church.  This month we focused on Teacher Appreciation.

I designed the cards pretty simple.  The card base is 8-1/2 x 5-1/2, folded in half, then one side folded back on itself.  It makes an easy fun fold.  The strip of Daffodil Delight measure 5-1/2 x 2-1/4, and made a nice layer to attach the lemonade packet with glue dots.
We made the cards assembly-line style.
I used the Coffee Cafe stamp set and Coffee Cup framelits to make the cup of lemonade with the straw.  The cup was cut out of vellum cardstock, then colored with a Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blend and the ice cubes stamped on.

Here is a quick video I made showing a tip about using the Stamparatus to line up the stamps with the punch.
These will be given to all the education employees that are members of our church-teachers, bus drivers, administrative employees-anyone who works in education.  I know how I love to feel appreciated, and I hope the recipients feel that way as we show our gratitude to those who take care of our children.
Is there someone you need to encourage today?  I am sure you will find lots of ideas to show your appreciation to someone as you hop with us.  Click on the Next Blog link to find more inspiration at Tanya Ree's blog.

Time For Tea and Southern Serenade-GDP Color Challenge

Hey Y'all!
I am so excited to share this card with you! It is my first time participating in the Global Design Project Challenge-something I have been wanting to do for a while now, but just haven't had the chance.
This week's challenge was a color challenge: Fresh Fig, Grapefruit Grove, and Mint Macaron.  I would have never put those colors together myself, but that's the wonderful thing about these challenges, they stretch your creativity.
I used the new Time For Tea bundle and paired it with the lace background stamp from Southern Serenade.   I stamped and die cut the flowers and leaf elements. I added a bow with my favorite ribbon-the Polka Dot Tulle, and placed Faceted Dots in the center of the flowers.  The dots come in 4 colors, Basic Black, Blackberry Bliss, Grapefruit Grove, and Mint Macaron.  Even though Fresh Fig wasn't in there, Blackberry Bliss makes a pretty good substitute.  I won't tell if you won't!
My sentiment came from the classic set Sheltering Tree.  I just love the font in that set!  Two corners were punched and rounded with the Detailed Trio punch, allowing the Grapefruit Grove card base to peek through.
I loved participating in the color challenge, it definitely won't be my last!  If you are interested in purchasing any of the products used, click on the pictures below to go to my online store.  Thanks for stopping by!
Love,
Nina
