I have a fun project to share with you today.  If you like to give gift cards for Christmas, this is a great way to present them.  I did a quick (well, kind of quick) video showing how I made the box.  It is inspired by Brenda Quintana.  We changed the embellishments, but the bones of the box  are the same.
Here is the inside...see how the gift card "pops up?" There is room for candy or another small gift in the box also.

I used Merry Merlot and Gray Granite with Copper Foil to match the Merry Merlot/Copper Ribbon.  You've seen that in ALOT of my projects, I absolutely love it.

Here is a picture of the template for the box itself.  All of the measurements are below.  With the Simply Scored, you can make all kinds of 3D projects, not to mention scoring card bases for that perfectly crisp fold.

Tips and Tricks:
  • Box measurements: 9 x 7, scored on 9" side at 1, 4, 5, 8, then turn and score on 7" side at 1 & 6
  • Inside piece (DSP) measurement: 7 x 5, scored on 7" side at 2-1/4, 3-1/2, and 4-3/4
  • In the video, I had my outside and inside oval the same size, but the one for the inside was too big and needs to be at least a size smaller.  (That's why you make a sample BEFORE you film a video!)
  • Use the Multi-purpose adhesive sheets for intricate die cuts

Here is the video to show you how to put this box together.

My finished project is different than the one in the video, I went back and changed some things.  I embossed the outside oval with the Garden Trellis embossing folder, and I also made the inside oval smaller, and stamped the swag from the stamp set in Gray Granite. You always see ways to improve after you're finished!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember the next 2 days Stampin' Up! is offering 10% off of Tools and Ink from the Annual Catalog, but only a limited number have been set aside.  It is while supplies last, so order early!  I have listed all of the supplies below, if you would like to order just click on the image to go to my online store.  Please use the Current Host Code found in the right column.

Nina
