Altering Ribbon-Ribbon Technique Blog Hop

 Hey Y'all!

I am excited to be a part of the Technique Tuesday Blog Hop! Today, we are sharing Ribbon Techniques.  Mine is pretty simple, cutting bulky ribbon in half.

I love the look of this Scalloped Linen Ribbon that is available in all of the 2019-2021 In Colors (which, by the way are RETIRING in just a couple of months!)  But it is very bulky and does not do well with tying bows.

It is beautiful to lay flat on a card, but sometimes a girl just wants a bow, right? I also love the vintage, shabby chic look, and when you cut this ribbon in half, it leaves those frayed edges that add to the vintage look.

I really went shabby chic with this card, wearing the edges by running the blade of my snips along the edge. I also ran the DSP through one of my favoite embossing folder, the Old World Paper.

Those of you that like clean, crisp edges, this style probably drives you crazy.  It's funny how we all have different styles, isn't it?

One important tip: Have a set of snips designated just for ribbon. You see the scissor charm on my snips in the top picture, those are my ribbon scissors.  Paper dulls the blade, and you won't get a clean cut.  You've probably seen the jokes about crafters threatening violence when someone uses their ribbon scissors to cut something else!
Thanks for stopping by, I can't wait to see the tips and tricks my friends have to share, be sure to hop all the way through, you don't want to miss out!

If you would like to order any of the products I used today, just click on the images below to go to my online store.  Be sure to use the current host code found in the right column to earn free product from me. Just a reminder, the 2019-2021 In Colors (Pretty Peacock, TerraCotta Tile, Seaside Spray, Rococo Rose, and Purple Posey) are retiring.  They go quickly, so if you want any paper, ribbon, ink, refills, etc, you need to order it quickly.
Be sure to subscribe to my blog, I love to share my love of crafting with you.  I also have a team of demonstrators, the Southern Accents Stamping Squad.  And no, you don't have to have a Southern Accent to belong!  If you have thought about becoming a demonstrator, I would love for you to join my team.  Click Join The Fun to find out more, or contact me at ninamac32@hotmail.com with any questions.
