Cathedral Window Technique-Designer Series Paper Techniques Blog Hop

Hey Y'all!
It is time for another Technique Tuesday Blog Hop with the Crafty Collaborators.  I love these hops because I get so much inspiration from my crafting friends, and I hope you do as well!

Today I am sharing a technique with you that I learned last year. It is called the "Cathedral Window." If you are familiar with quilting, you may recognize it as a quilt pattern. I fell in love with it...this is the closest I will ever come to making a quilt, just saying! But it is such a beautiful design, and not hard at all!

To do this technique, you will need 1-1/2" circles ( I used a punch, but you can use a die or a cutting machine) and 1" squares of DSP. I chose some of my favorite Christmas DSP, it is in the Annual Catalog-Tidings of Christmas. For this card, I made 10 pieces.  Layout your circles and squares and decide which ones look best together.  Keep in mind that the pattern on the circles that will be visible is on the opposite side of  the square. Adhere one of the squares inside one of the circles and fold the edges of the circle around the square.

Now lay out those pieces on your card front. I've created this diamond shape, but you can do them in a circle, straight across, however you like. I added the "Merry Christmas" sentiment from Evergreen Elegance.
Now it is time to see all of the other techniques being shared today, enjoy!
