Friend Card for Global Design Project #157

Hey Y'all!
The Global Design Project challenge this week is a color challenge:
And here is my entry:
The Leaf Punch and Pretty Label Punch did most of the work for the focal image.  Our Stampin' Write markers are a must have...I used the Blackberry Bliss and Mint Macaron markers to ink up the sentiment.  I inked the select words with Blackberry Bliss onto the punched piece of Whisper White, then inked the "friend" up with Mint Macaron, stamped onto another piece of Whisper White and "fussy cut" it out, then popped it up with dimensionals.

The leaves were punched in all 3 challenge colors, and also with some Vellum Cardstock.  I sponged 1/2 of one of the Pearlized Doilies with Blackberry Bliss.  The punched piece is layered with Grapefruit Grove, and a loop of that yummy Polka Dot ribbon adds just a touch of whimsy.
The Basket Weave embossing folder gives wonderful texture to the card.  How do you like this color combo?  What is your favorite color combo?

Tips and Tricks:
  • Card dimensions:  Base-Whisper White 8-1/2 x 5-1/2, scored at 4-1/4, Mint Macaron layer 5-5/8 x 4-3/8
  • Highlight words in sentiments by stamping them with a different color and popping up with dimensionals
  • Use the Stamparatus to get perfect alignment, especially when using markers since the details may not stamp clearly and you have to re-stamp
  • Sponge ink onto the back of the Pearlized Doilies to create any color you want.
  • Create a layered look with punches by punching cardstock in a different color, then cut bottom layer in half and adhere to top layer
  • To adhere embellishments like doilies that aren't "solid", lay down a strip of snail or Tear & Tape, then attach the doily

CASEing the Catty #197 with Country Home

Hey Y'all!
I am so excited I was able to take the CASEing the Catty challenge this week!  This is such a fun group, and I love how it makes us really look at the catalog samples instead of just glance and browse.
The focus section to CASE (copy and share everything or copy and selectively edit) is Joyous Noel in the Holiday Catalog, pages 28-35 in the 2018 Holiday Catalog.  I chose the card on page 35.
I love the clean and simple look of the bottom card.  Here is my version using the Country Home stamp set.
This is one of my favorite new stamp sets, I have used it multiple times.  The Stampin' Blends make the image come to life.
Card Tips and Tricks:
  • Measurements: Card Base in Thick Whisper White 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 scored at 4-1/4, Whisper White layer 4 x 5-1/4, Strip of Whisper White appx. 3 x 1/2
  • Use the Stamparatus to perfectly line up the floral image on top of the pitcher
  • Loop metallic thread and adhere to dimensionals placed on cardstock before adding to project.

How about you?  Do you love to color?  If so, the Stampin' Blends are a must have!  Thanks for stopping by, you can order any of the supplies used by clicking on the images below.

Pick A Pennant Teacher Card for Global Design Project #155

Hey Y'all!
Life has been busy at my house!  But I am so glad I was able to squeeze in some time to make a card for the Global Design Project challenge this week.

Cleaning the chalkboard is one of my school days childhood memories, we used to argue over whose turn it was to do it!  Do they even have chalkboards anymore with all of the technology?

So I knew I had to incorporate a chalkboard look into this card.  I used a piece of Basic Black cardstock and lightly sponged some Craft White ink to give it that chalkboard look.  Then I dried it with my Heat Tool (a very important step if you don't want stray embossing powder all over your card) before heat embossing the "A+" from the Letters for You stamp set in white embossing powder.

I also knew I wanted an apple on my card.  Paper Pumpkin to the rescue!  The apple came from the July 2018 kit "Picnic Paradise."  Paper Pumpkin is a monthly subscription, and you receive everything you need to make the projects, including ink, stamps, and adhesive.  There is a link to subscribe in the sidebar to the right, you can also click on the image below in the supply list.

The brand new Buffalo Check background stamp adds so much to this card, and used with Stamparatus, you get perfect stamping!

The Stamparatus was the secret sauce in making this card, especially the banner.  I have added a video to show you how I used it, and also show you how I made the cute pencil with the Classic Label Punch.  I love it when my imagination shows up lol!
Tips and Tricks:
  • Card Base-Poppy Parade 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2", Whisper White layer 4" x 5-1/4", Wood Textures DSP 4-3/8" x 3-1/4", Basic Black slightly smaller than Wood Textures DSP
  • Pencil colors: Crushed Curry, Flirty Flamingo, Crumb Cake, and Basic Black
  • I used the rectangle framelit from the Sliding Door framelits to cut a "frame" for the chalkboard
  • Don't have a stamp for an element?  Use what you have in your stash, i.e. the apple from a Paper Pumpkin kit

This card is going to a special teacher friend of mine that passed a very hard test this summer.  Yes, teachers have to take tests, too!
