DSP Sale July 1-August 2 2021!

Hey Y'all!
I am slowly but surely getting back to crafting. My Mom passed away last Friday, June 25, and we had her funeral yesterday. This is one of the hardest things I have every had to go through, but we rejoice knowing she is with her Savior, Jesus Christ, and is more alive now than she has ever been.
I still have so many details to take care of, but I wanted to hop on and let you know what is going on in the Stampin' Up! World! The Holiday Mini Catalog preorder for demonstrators starts tomorrow! (All the more reason to sign up, get the products early before anyone else!) Today is the last day to order from the January-June Mini, so if there are any products you still want, today is the last day!!
Also, starting tomorrow, select DSP is on sale at 15% off!

I hope to have some projects to share with you soon, I miss my craft room, and I know it will be great therapy helping me grieve the loss of my mom. She was my biggest cheerleader, she loved seeing the cards and projects I made, and would always ask if I "had a card on hand" for birthdays or other occasions.  I have some special projects planned for those who were especially helpful through her sickness and after. I can't wait to share them with you.

FREE SHIPPING TOMORROW & Why I have been AWOL

Click this image to go to my Online Store
Hey Y’all!
I just wanted to pop in and tell you about tomorrow’s great deal-FREE SHIPPING-one day only. And I also wanted to share why I have been AWOL.
My family has had one tragedy after another, and it seems we can’t catch our breath. My brother-in-law has been diagnosed with cancer, and given a year at best. Two days after that news, our 40 year old nephew was killed in a tragic wreck. We buried him Tuesday June 15, and that evening I found out my dear friend and downline had passed away that morning. Then last Friday my mother had a massive stroke. Currently she is in the hospital and we are having to make decisions regarding long term care. In the meantime, my brother-in-law with cancer had complications and was rushed to Shands Hospital about 3-1/2hours away from us and is still down there.
Shout out to my amazing husband who has had supper ready when I’ve got home from the hospital, had my hot bath ready, and has just been a steady rock. It is his brother with cancer, and his nephew so he is going through tremendous stress as well.
But we know that God is Sovereign and in control of all situations, I would have to write a book (and I am going to put it down on paper) how we have seen His hand in so many things. If you are a praying person, we covet your prayers. Right now our family is our #1 priority. I don’t know when I will be back in my craft room, but please don’t give up on me. Thank you for your support in my business, and I appreciate each and every one of you that have taken this journey with me.
PS, I got a peek at the new Holiday Catalog yesterday…you’re gonna love it! Comment below and include your email if you would like me to send you a copy. Please do so only if you don’t currently have a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator already.
Now it’s time to get ready and go to the hospital and spend the day with my precious mama-I am so thankful for every moment God gives me with her. Hug your loved ones tight!
Love,
Nina

Sweet and Simple Cards

Hey Y'all!
You know we all love those "all out" cards that have all kinds of layers and embellishments, fancy techniques, etc.  But, if you are a beginning stamper, that can be overwhelming. And then sometimes we need a quick card in a pinch.  I have started a monthly class called "Sweet and Simple Cards" that is great for beginners, or just those that have limited time but want to get that "crafting fix."
Funny story: when I planned this class, I planned 2 cards for $10, thinking 1 hour-1-1/2 hours.  We were finished in less than 45 minutes!  I've decided in future classes to do 3 cards for $12, just to make it worthwhile for people to come to my house! Which, it is always worthwhile because you get to see me, right? lol!

The first card we made used the beautiful Hydrangea Hill DSP, which is, sadly, retiring at the end of the month.  This particular pattern is perfect to make a set of cards, just cut the 12x12 sheet into 6 4x5-1/4 pieces. I used a Basic White cardbase (8-1/2 x -5-1/2, scored at 4-1/4), and the Misty Moonlight layer (4-1/8x5-3/8). I stamped the sentiment directly onto the DSP (yes! you can do that!) in Misty Moonlight ink. I added some Linen Thread, and there you go! This is one of the most basic card layouts. If your DSP is too busy or dark to stamp on, you can modify this by stamping onto another piece of cardstock, Basic White or another coordinating color and adhere it on top of the DSP. This would be considered a "SIP" card (minus the Linen Thread)....Stamps, Ink, and Paper.

This next card also used a fun layout that can be reproduced with any DSP. The top card was my sample, and the bottom card is the one I made in class, showing them how to achieve a totally different look just by flipping the DSP.  This is a Crumb Cake cardbase and the DSP is 2-1/4 x 5-1/2, and 1/2 x 5-1/2. To simplify, cut your DSP 2-3/4 x 5-1/2, then trim 1/2 off. We stamped the large daisy image from Daisy Lane twice in Flirty Flamingo and used the Daisy Punch to punch them out, then offset them and glued together. We used the Sprig Punch to punch some Granny Apple Green and attached behind the Daisy. Stamp the "Smile" sentiment and that's it!
See! Cardmaking can be so simple and fun! I hope today's post has inspired you to grab your supplies and get creative....go make somebody smile...if you're like me, that somebody is you when you create something beautiful. Then you get to send that card and double that smile!

Technique Tuesday Blog Hop: Dry Embossing Technique

Hey Y'all!
I am so happy to be back with the Crafty Collaborators sharing another Technique Tuesday Blog Hop, and I know you are going to love this one!
I've always been a crafter...before I really got into cardmaking/papercrafting, I bought a Cricut™, and started watching YouTube videos on how to use it. There would be "suggested videos," and these people would use this hand-powered crank machine that used these folders that made impressions in the paper. It was amazing, and I was hooked. I purchased a Bigshot™, which now I have upgraded to a Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine. Dry or pressure embossing is one of my favorite things to do in cardmaking....there aren't many cards that I make that I haven't used an embossing folder!
Today, I want to show you what it looks like to emboss vellum. I've used the new In Color Shimmer Vellum.

I just placed a 4x51/2 piece in the Pretty Flowers embossing folder and ran through the macine.

I had really hoped that white border would show up on the shimmery side, but it didn't.  This is what the shimmery side looked like, I ran it through both ways, with the shimmer side facing up and down in the folder. It's pretty, but doesn't have the contrast I was hoping for.

I stamped a sentiment from Inspired Thoughts in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and cropped it with a Hippo and Friends die. I wrapped a piece of the Fresh Freesia ribbon around the piece of vellum, tied a bow, and adhered it to a Fresh Freesia cardbase. I popped the sentiment up with dimensionals, and, Voila! A simple card that packs a punch!
I can't wait to see what everyone else is sharing, there is so much you can do with an embossing folder! Hop along with us and hopefully you will be inspired to make something beautiful!
